Thats the Arduino board at the top, and a mini-breadboard with the heart-rate monitor chip and 7 segment display on the bottom. Not quite as elegant as a Polar wristwatch monitor (which I compared to for accuracy)… but its mine, all mine! Bwaaahaaaa! The cost is probably is similar to an off-the-shelf Polar monitor, something like $US70.00 Missing from the picture (because I’m wearing it…) is the Polar chest strap. My heart rate is elevated due to the excitement.

It was the Polar Heart Rate receiver. It was included in the microMedic kit from Parallax but is available separately.
